Agents could hold up Toney transfer
Ivan Toney’s transfer from Posh could be held up because the player is currently changing agents.
Toney’snewrepresentatives take over on September 1 and it’s thought the 24 year-old striker wouldn’t want any move away from London Road to take place until after that date.
That would ensure his new agents benefit financially from a transfer fee that could reach £10 million.
FA regulations insist that only Toney’s current agent can be involved in a transfer until his contract with them expires on August 31.
Posh are keen to sell Toney (above) before then so they can have his replacement ready to go when the new League One season kicks off, probably on September 12.
Premier League side Brighton and Championship promotion hopefuls Brentford are understood to be leading the chase for Toney who scored 26 goals in a shortened 2019-20 campaign.
