Co-owner, and ace transfer negotiator, Darragh MacAnthony believes Posh will continue to make millions from Ivan Toney even though the forward joined Brentford in a club record transfer sale this week.

MacAnthony hinted in the latest edition of his popular ‘ Hard Truth’ podcast that Posh have received their full asking price of £10 million for the 24 year-old.

And MacAnthony insists Poshareguaranteedtocashin some lucrative add ons when Toney hits undisclosed goal targetsandBrentfordwinpromotiontothePremierLeague.

“We have inserted some fantastic add ons into the deal,” MacAnthony revealed.

“And they are very achievable. We could easily make a few more million down the line and in fact I’d say that’s guaranteed.

“Brentford wanted to sign Ivan in January, but I said no.

“They came back for him when they were still in the play-offs and I said yes, but the price I wanted in January still stood.

“Brentford did suggest a pandemic discount, but I refused and to be fair to Brentford they conducted themselves brilliantly throughout this process.

“We actually agreed this deal seven weeks ago, but it went quiet for a while before Brentford informed me they were going ahead.

“It took a while, but I believebothclubshavedonewell out of the deal.

“I have no doubt Ivan will be a big success and that Brentfordwillgoup. Wewould benefit from that .

“As soon as we knew Ivan was leaving we moved to get Jonson Clarke-Harris in. He stood out in the data analysis wedidtofindthestrikermost likely to deliver 80% of the attributes we would lose with Ivan going.

“We weren’t going to get 100%, not from a League One player, because that’s what we wanted. We wanted someonewhowouldhittheground running because they knew League One and they were familiar with our style of play.”
