DRIVE-IN FIREWORKS
BIG DISPLAY PLANNED:
A drive-in fireworks display will take place at Peterborough East of England Showground on November 7.
Organiserssaythedisplay will be the largest in the county and will be socially distanced with stewards to ensure that all Covid-19 safety guidelines are followed.
TheEast of England Showgroundusuallyhostsanannual firework display which can attract up to 15,000 visitors.
Due to the current pandemicorganisersdecidedthat theeventcouldnotgoaheadin its usual format, but have now confirmed a drive-in display instead.
Event organiser Martin Allen said: “Wearereallyexcited to be able to provide our choreographeddisplaytotheresidents of Peterborough.
“The audience can view from a covid safe viewing area nextto their car wherethey can shelter from the November weather if need be.
“With the unique element of having the radio broadcasting directly to each vehicle it will enableeveryonetoengage with the event and enjoy the stunning display.”
Theevent onSaturday, November 7, will see gates open at 5pmaccompaniedbyatwohour radio broadcast on 103.2 PCRFM with the station’s Kev Lawrence. A‘highimpact’displaywillstartat6.30pmchoreographed to music broadcast by PCRFM.
Kev said: “I’m so pleased that a Covid safe display like this has been organised.
“It’s beensuchatoughyear for so many, especially children. And with many events being cancelled, it’s awesome that Peterborough families can load up the car and head out together for a night of safe firework fun. And broadcasting the whole thing on PCR will give methechancetokeep everyone entertained and informed in the build-up to the fireworks being launched.”
Organisers Entertainment Effects Group Ltd said there will be a great view for the whole audience as the display is ‘an entirely aerial display’.
The event will see visitors drive onto the site, have their tickets scanned by stewards wearing visors and gloves.
Each car will be given a flyer with event specific details including site map.
This will reduce the need to contact stewards for questions, sayorganisers. Carswill then be directed to a parking space. Once parked everyone will needto stay within touching distance of their car.
Stewards will be circulating to monitor that this is happening. Toilets will have monitored, two metre spaced, queuing systems and be cleaned regularly
Tickets will be sold online through driveinfireworks.uk (1,000 tickets are available giving access to around 4,000 people). Cost: £ 25 per car, some £20 early bird tickets are available.
