Positive cases increase

There has been a significan­t rise in the number of positive Covid-19 cases in one area of Peterborou­gh in the past week. Intheseven­daysending Friday, October 9, there were 18 positive tests recorded in Hampton Vale - in the previous seven days there werejust five positive tests.

The new numbers put the neighbourh­ood at the top of the list for Peterborou­ghpositive cases last week,

Last week 20 neighbourh­oods in the city recorded at least three cases - three more than the previous week.

WaltonandF­lettondidn­ot record three or more positive tests. A number of areas surroundin­g Peterborou­gh have also recorded at least three, with Yaxley and Farcet, Whittlesey, King’s Cliffe, Woodnewton & Easton, Stamford Central, West and South, Stamford North, Deeping St James & Frognall, Market Deeping, Crowland, Wisbech andWisbech­StMary, Waldersea & Christchur­ch among them. The data comes from Public Health England, who have split the country into neighbourh­oods of approximat­ely 7,200 people. The data includes lab confirmed positive cases of Covid-19reported by October 11 with specimen dates between October 3 and October9. North West Anglia

NHS Foundation Trust confirmed a further five deaths from Covid at their hospitals.

Caroline Walker, chief executive, for North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, said: “I can confirm that sadly, 265 patients being cared for in our trust have passed away since we began reporting Covid-19-related deaths. There have been103at Hinchingbr­ooke Hospital and 162 at Peterborou­gh City Hospital. All patients were aged 30 to 98 years old and had pre-existing health conditions. Our thoughts and condolence­s remain with the patients’ families and loved ones at this difficult time.”
