Frostbite League has seen some red-hot results

-

Yaxley Runners are one of the eight original members of the Frostbite League, with their greatest success being a third place finish.

In season 2016/17, an achievement which highlighted the strength of both their men’s and ladies squads, James Mogridge won the March AC Frostbite race while Caroline Woods had three individual firsts to her name during the season.

Current Peterborough Nene Valley AC senior Richard Pawlak has been Yaxley’s most successful Frostbite youngster, coming home first for the club on no less than 26 occasions.

Perhaps Yaxley’s greatest achievement has been their seamless organising of the annual Folksworth 15 road race which they have hosted since 1990.

It has become one of the key races in the East of England for spring marathon runners, and online entries often reach their 500 limit within hours.

The 2021 race was due to take place last month, but the Covid-induced cancellation prevented an icy repeat of the 2018 event when a blizzard swept the course.

• Yaxley Runners meet at the Hampton Sports Centre, Beaumont Way, Hampton Hargate PE7 8DP on a Monday evening (6.30pm meet for a 6.45 start) and at different local venues on Thursday evenings.

A beginners rota is run on a Monday night to ensure anyone new to the club and/ or running have an experienced club member to run with them.

The juniors train at Hampton on Friday evenings.

The club also run several social events.
