Euan is the King of the GB goaltender­s

Peterborou­gh Phantoms man Euan King has been confirmed as Great Britain’s goaltendin­g coach.

The 31-year-old represente­d GB as a junior during his playing days.

He spent much of his domestic playing career with home-town club Peterborou­gh, but also iced for Basingstok­e, Romford, Chelmsford, London and Streatham.

King linked up with the national team last February and was part of the GB coaching staff for the Olympic Qualifiers in Nottingham.

King said: “It was an honour to represent GB as a junior at a World Championsh­ip and being appointed to this coaching role is just as special.

“Goaltendin­g is a massive passion of mine.

“I would like to thank all those involved in giving me this opportunit­y and I’m excited to be part of the coaching staff.”

GB head coach, Pete Russell, said: “It is fantastic to have Euan as our goalie coach

“I have known Euan a long time and he is perfect for the programme and our netminders enjoy working with him.

“We have a great group of coaches on the national programme and Euan’s expertise will be vital for us going forward.”

• Phantoms opted out of competing in a hastily-arranged Spring Cup, but a couple of their players are taking part.

Ace netminder Jordan Marr has joined Swindon Wildcats on loan and forward Glenn Billing has joined Romford Raiders, also on loan.

The competitio­n started last weekend with Swindon beating Bracknell Bees 6-2 & 5-4.

Billing scored one goal as Raiders lost 3-2 and 5-2 to Telford Tigers.
