Euan is the King of the GB goaltenders
Peterborough Phantoms man Euan King has been confirmed as Great Britain’s goaltending coach.
The 31-year-old represented GB as a junior during his playing days.
He spent much of his domestic playing career with home-town club Peterborough, but also iced for Basingstoke, Romford, Chelmsford, London and Streatham.
King linked up with the national team last February and was part of the GB coaching staff for the Olympic Qualifiers in Nottingham.
King said: “It was an honour to represent GB as a junior at a World Championship and being appointed to this coaching role is just as special.
“Goaltending is a massive passion of mine.
“I would like to thank all those involved in giving me this opportunity and I’m excited to be part of the coaching staff.”
GB head coach, Pete Russell, said: “It is fantastic to have Euan as our goalie coach
“I have known Euan a long time and he is perfect for the programme and our netminders enjoy working with him.
“We have a great group of coaches on the national programme and Euan’s expertise will be vital for us going forward.”
• Phantoms opted out of competing in a hastily-arranged Spring Cup, but a couple of their players are taking part.
Ace netminder Jordan Marr has joined Swindon Wildcats on loan and forward Glenn Billing has joined Romford Raiders, also on loan.
The competition started last weekend with Swindon beating Bracknell Bees 6-2 & 5-4.
Billing scored one goal as Raiders lost 3-2 and 5-2 to Telford Tigers.
