Plotting the Posh path to promotion

- By Alan Swann alan.swann@jpimedia.co.uk @PTAlanSwann

Just over 90 points has been the average tally of teams finishing second and gaining automatic promotion in the last six full seasons of League One.

An average of just over 72 points has been achieved by the team finishing sixth, the final play-off position. Posh finished on 74 points the last time they reached the play-offs in the 2013-14 season.

We have not included last season’s incomplete points tallies in this summary.

Pleasingly nine of the remaining Posh matches are at home including some biggies against Hull, Portsmouth, Sunderland, Doncaster and Lincoln and the derby game against Cobblers.

Posh also have to play away at promotion rivals Oxford (next Tuesday), Charlton and Doncaster (final day of the season).

Posh currently have 58 points with 17 games to go after five successive wins and the PT has plotted the path to promotion for the new league leaders ....
