Rival threatens to ‘finish Gill off’ if they ever fight

-

The unbeaten British fighter Chatteris champion Jordan Gill wants to take on as he marches towards a world title bout has dismissed the local man’s chances of success.

Gill and Isaac Lowe - the WBC International Featherweight title holder - have been arguing on social media for some time.

But it stepped up a level after Gill’s trainer Dave Coldwell appeared to handpick Lowe as a stepping stone opponent on the way to bigger fights.

Lowe said: “I don’t need to go out of my way for Jordan Gill. He’s a European class fighter and I’m a world class fighter.

“The only way I’ll fight him is if it’s for a world title eliminator. I don’t need him, but he needs me.

“If we fight I’ll finish his career. I’ll break him down, hurt him and put him to sleep. I might just finish the little idiot off.”

Gill replied by calling Lowe ‘Tyson Fury’s water carrier.’

Lowe has been training at Fury’s gym in Morecambe as he prepares for a fight tomorrow (Friday).

Gill shot up to number five in the WBA featherweight rankings after a classy display in beating tough Mexican Cesar Juaraz unanimously on points last month.

Gill’s prize for that win, as well as a world ranking boost, was the International IBF Featherweight title.

Gill (26) has now won 26 and lost one of his 27 professional fights. Lowe (27) has won 20 and drawn three of his 23 professional fights.

Coldwell wants a Gill/Lowe bout on the undercard of Fury v Anthony Joshua.
