Greedy Fergie was desperate for even more goals!
BIG MATCH REPORT: BACK TO FORM WITH A MIGHTY BANG
Greedy Posh boss Darren Ferguson was hungry for more goals as his side dismantled Accrington Stanley at the Weston Homes Stadium last weekend.
Posh thumped their heavily depleted visitors 7-0 in a League One fixture - the team’s biggest win for 14 years - to move within a point of top spot.
But Ferguson claimed it was like picking up four points becausetheymadeupsomuch goal difference ground on Hull and third-placed Sunderland.
“I was trying to get a message on to Niall Mason towards the end of the game to make sure we tried to score as many as possible,” Ferguson said. “Because goal difference could be massive come the end of the season.
“I honestly felt we were going to score more than seven because we were rampant and they were struggling with 10 men because of injuries.
“But seven will obviously do, especially as we caught up Sunderland’s healthy goal difference advantage in one

afternoon. We are still a bit behind Hull, but the gap is now manageable.
“It was a perfect performancde from us. If I’d dreamed of how the game would go, it would have been exactly like this. We picked up a muchneeded win, we were outstanding going forward and we kept a clean sheet.
“All credit to the players because they’d been down after a poor couple of results, but we picked them up, told them how we planned to tackle the final 10 games and they responded in style.
“It was a magnificent performance. Accrington came with a depleted squad, but we were as ruthless as a team chasing promotion needs to be. We executed our gameplan perfectly. We started strongly and we just kept going. We had a little dip after going 3-0 up, but at half-time I asked them to run further than they had all season and they delivered. I was delighted with them.
“This wasn’t about sending a message to anyone else though. It was about giving ourselves self-confidence and belief for the run-in.
“I couldn’t have asked for any more than the players gave me. Even the substitutes made great contributions with two of them scoring (Idris Kanu and Mo Eisa) and another one creating a goal (Niall Mason).”
