Posh reveal transfer plans

-

Posh co-owner Darragh MacAnthony has revealed the recruitment process for the 2021-22 season started last January.

MacAnthony gave an insight into his club’s transfer market tactics during the latest edition of his popular ‘Hard Truth’ podcast.

Posh are currently compiling two lists, one for Championship football and another for League One.

“In recruitment it’s important to stay ahead of the competition,” MacAnthony stated. “We’ve been compiling two lists since January and they are very different lists because the standard of the Championship is so different to the standard of League One.

“Those lists are changing all the time. When we know what division we are in we will have a recruitment meeting some time in May and finalise a list of four players for each position and then myself and Barry Fry will get to work.

“We had Barry out at the weekend having final looks at players and I’ll probably go and look at a couple myself soon. I’ve been looking at a lot of video footage lately as well.

“We’ve also been taking plenty of calls about our players so although the season is coming to an end we are about to get very busy.

“Our scouting process is very thorough. I expect my scouts to multi-task. They will go and look at a certain player, but if anyone else catches their eye I want to know about them.

“I also like to know about a target’s body language when he’s subbed or when he’s sat in the stands.”

Fry has dismissed reports that Swindon Town midfielder Scott Twine is among the Posh targets.

The 21 year-old was linked with Posh in a national newspaper last weekend.

But Fry said: “We haven’t had a meeting about next season yet. That will take place when we know what division we are playing in and we know what the budget will be. Twine’s name hasn’t been mentioned to me.”

Twine has scored 12 goals this season including a couple of stunning strikes, but seven of them arrived during a loan spell at League Two side Newport County.
