Film frenzy as centre reopens

-

Family favourites, award winners and the biggest blockbusters will be coming back to Spalding next week, as the South Holland Centre reopens its doors with a busy schedule of films this summer.

The Centre, which has been closed since March last year, will reopen on Thursday, July 22, with Godzilla vs Kong, Nomadland and Peter Rabbit 2 showing in its first week.

Two screenings a day are scheduled from Wednesday - Saturday each week, plus one Sunday a month, with over 30 different films due to air before the end of September.

Other highlights include the return of superheroes with Black Widow and Wonder Woman 1984, new Disney releases Cruella and Raya & The Last Dragon, and critically acclaimed films including The Father, Another Round and In The Heights.

Screenings will be at 2pm and 7pm in the centre’s auditorium, with the full schedule of films and booking details available at www.southhollandcentre. co.uk/whats-on.

With 81% of visitors and regular users choosing the return of films as one of the main things they were looking forward to during the recent customer survey, the centre is looking forward to welcoming people back safely to enjoy cinema again, whilst continuing to work on the return of live events to the venue later this year.

Clear routes will be in place to make it simple for visitors to keep their distance from others as they move around the building and the online booking system will ensure spaces between groups.of visitors. These safety measures will be reviewed regularly on the basis of Government guidance and feedback from audiences.

Councillor Gary Taylor, South Holland District Council portfolio holder for communities and facilities, said: “We’re delighted that the South Holland Centre is almost ready to re-open to the public again. We’re really pleased with the film schedule that we are able to offer and hope there is something there for everyone to enjoy.

c“There’s been lots of work going on behind the scenes to ensure that everything is in place to welcome our audiences back safely, and to help people return to venues with confidence after so long away. Hopefully it will provide the perfect place to get together with friends and family again and watch some of the most talked about films and biggest hits this summer.”
