Here it is, the biggest and best way to enjoy the most successful cop show ever on British television. Every twist, every shock, every gasp-inducing moment, are all here, from the first time we met the crew of anti-corruption squad AC-12 who were to become so familiar to us, right up until the identity of ‘H’, the boss of the corrupt cops was revealed in the last episode of Series 6. Or was he? I’m with the conspiracy theory that creator and master scriptwriter Jed Mercurio has once again pulled the wool over our eyes, and hopefully the hunt will resume in a future seventh series. We wait with bated breath. The series has made major stars out of Martin Compston who plays DS Steve Arnott, Vicky McClure as DI Kate Fleming and, of course, Adrian Dunbar as their boss Supt Ted Hastings, whose favourite old Irish sayings have baffled and tickled audiences all the way through. All three have gone on to appear in other prime time TV dramas. Without giving too much away, there was shock news in Series 6 that AC-12 is to be axed, but again fans can’t believe it, and think they smell another red herring. A hallmark of LOD’s standing is the big name actors queueing up to play the shady cops AC-12 investigates. They have included Lennie James, the memorable Keeley Hawes, Daniel Mays, Thandiwe Newton, Stephen Graham and Kelly Macdonald in Season 6. Binge it all in Blu-ray and you’ll love it all over again in sparkling picture and sound.
