Former Posh winger Daniel French is now in sole managerial charge of Deeping Rangers FC.

French had been joint-manager with Lee Clarke, but the latter has stepped down for personal reasons.

French will be supported on the coaching front by former Posh, Manchester United and West Brom goalkeeper Luke Steele, Deeping stalwart Dan Flack and Lee Crockett who will coach the goalkeepers.

Deeping are due to host St Neots Town in their opening home friendly at the Haydon Witham Stadium on Saturday (3pm kick off ).

Former Posh star Marcus Maddison scored his second goal in two games for latest club Spalding United in a friendly at Skegness Town last weekend.

Fellow summer signing Jordan Macleod also netted to make it three goals in two games for him. The match finished 2-2.

Netherton United manager Jon Harrison has been pleased with what he’s seen from his young group players in preseason.

The city side have integrated many of last season’s successful under 18 side into their Peterborough Premier Division squad for the 2021-22 season.

One of those youngsters Finley Henderson scored the opening goal in a 2-0 friendly win over Eynesbury United at the Grange last weekend.

Bogdan Masnita, who is back at the club from Blackstones, also scored after a fantastic late counter attack.

“I’m not getting carried away at all,”Harrison stated. “But I have to say I’m really enjoying seeing these young men becoming part of the group. Will it be successful? Only time will tell!

“But one thing I love is having lads wanting to come through and play, rather than having to convince players to sign up.”

Netherton were forced to call off Tuesday’s game against Whittlesey Athletic and Saturday’s match with Cottesmore because of a positive Covid test within the squad.
