Hynes turns the heat up in mini-series

PACTRAC’s mini-series is hotting up with three different winners in three races.

Jonny Hynes took the spoils in the latest race by three minutes from Simon Hoppe in second and Adam Clark in third.

Willow Worthingto­n made her first appearance and came home as first lady, while Georgina Jennings set records for the over 75 females in all discipline­s.

Other records were set by Clark, who broke his own swim record, and Hoppe who took the over 50s course record down to 50:34 including a new best swim time of 6:10.

After exiting the pool 24 seconds behind Clark and just 10 seconds behind Hoppe, Hynes had the fastest bike split of the night to take the lead.

Hynes also had the fastest run of the night.

With three events from the five to count towards the Mini-Series Trophy, Hoppe has taken the lead with 24 points. His closest rivals are Hynes with 19 points and Mark Weathersby with 18.

Susie Freeman leads the Ladies Trophy race from Worthingto­n.

PACTRACERS Georgina Jennings (age group 1st), Simon Hoppe (2nd) and Mark Weathersby (4th) all qualified for next year’s European Spring Traithlon Championsh­ips after strong performanc­es in a qualifying event at Mallory Park.

The event comprised a 75om swim, 12-mile bike and three-mile run. Weathersby was 27th overall in 61.37, with Hoppe finishing in 63.13 and Jennings in 96.59.

PACTRAC pair Willow Worthingto­n and Daniel Richardson both competed in a Swim/Run event at Long Eaton.

Worthingto­n finished second in her age group in a 13.5 mile race in 3:06.58.

Richardson opted for a 3.5 mile event and finished third in his age group in 1:47.25.

David O’Sullivan completed a Half-Ironman triathlon in Staffordsh­ire (12-mile swim, 56-mile bike, 13.1 mile run) in 6:37.47.
