Cherries spend £3 million, but most deals were loans
Championship clubs made just 28 signings on transfer deadline day this week.
Bournemouth were the biggest spenders splashing out £1.6 million on Swansea forward Jamal Lowe and £1.4 million on Celtic’s attacking midfielder Ryan Christie.
Preston also shelled out a £1.4 million fee on St Johnstone defender Ali McCann.
Sheffield United, Posh’s next opponents, signed four new players, all from top-flight clubs, including midfielder Conor Hourihane from Aston Villa, while struggling sides Nottingham Forest and Blackpool signed three new players apiece, but nine clubs didn’t sign anyone at all including secondplaced West Brom.
But perhaps the most eye-catching signing was Birmingham City’s free transfer capture of forward Troy Deeney from Watford.
