ENGINEERING RECRUITMENT OPEN DAY AT BAKER PERKINS

-

One of the oldest companies in Peterborough is launching a major recruitment drive, with up to 50 new engineering posts being created.

The firm which helps deliver some of the best-known food brands to family tables around the world is adding to its workforce with up to 50 permanent, full-time roles. Baker Perkins is the engineering firm which produces bespoke food manufacturing machinery for factories around the world, helping produce products like Warburton’s bread and Jakeman’s throat lozenges. Business is booming, and to meet the demand the 310-strong workforce is being increased to between 350 and 360.

And with more than 100 years of experience in the sector, it has built up a hugely loyal workforce, mainly with long-serving staff who like the full package offered, the option to earn overtime or work flexible hours in some roles, and to be part of a major Peterborough success story for decades to come.

Ahead of the recruitment open day on Saturday, May 21, from 1-4pm, the firm has answered some frequently asked questions.

What roles are available?

They are recruiting in most departments, including office workers and mechanical, electrical and software engineers. Whether you are a seasoned professional, a new graduate or a keen apprentice, there could be a role for you.

What hours and terms?

All roles offer flexibility: many office-based jobs include working from home while for shop floor staff the company offers the opportunity to earn overtime and an early finish on a Friday. All staff members enjoy a generous holiday package, including a guaranteed break between Christmas and New Year, and a pension scheme.

Where can I find out more?

The firm has operated out of Peterborough for the past 100 years, and from the site on Manor Drive for over 30 years. That’s where the open day will take place, where potential candidates can tour the factory and the innovation centre, learn about the ambitious plans ahead, meet the team and present their CV to HR in person.

When can I start?

Most of the roles currently being recruited are permanent, full-time posts, though if a candidate wants more flexible hours the recruitment team are happy to work with them. Successful candidates available for immediate start could be on the team within the week, while they will happily wait for others with the right skillset who need to give longer notice periods to their present employer – Baker Perkins wants the right people in the right roles, so will work with you. The firm was acquired by the Schenck Process Group during lockdown, which has ambitious plans for the future, and it is likely the workforce in this household name in food manufacturing will be growing again in the future. There’s no need to book a spot at the open day, just turn up. Visit: www.bakerperkins.com/ recruitmentday for more information.
