Adam is first man again to beat Kane

-

third mini-series triathlon of the season followed a familiar pattern with Adam Clark taking the honours yet again.

It was a third straight win for Clark with Grame Kane completing three straight second place finishes. However the deficit between the two is gradually reducing, from 3:26 and 2:51 to just 1:11 minutes this time with Kane deliveringa personal best time in the latest race.

Clark was first out of the pool, 25 seconds ahead of Simon Guerin, and 33 ahead of Kane. The pair then produced the two fastest bike splits this season, with Clark needing to record a personal best time of 23:04 just to pull a further 7 seconds ahead. Clark once again had the fastest run of the night to increase his lead by the finish.

Guerin held onto 3rd place on the bike, but had to relinquish that spot on the run, when Rob Hammond caught him just before the half-way point.

Susie Freeman had her usual consistent swim to exit in 4th place and squeezed in, in under an hour, for 7th place overall and first lady.

Sam Chapman and Stuart Cleworth competed in the Ironman Triathlon in Hamburg. This was Chapman’s 2nd Ironman and Cleworth’s 3rd with both recording personal best times over the 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and 26.2 mile run. of 9:15:23 and 10:24;04 respectively.
