Posh ins and outs
Posh team plans are taking shape for the 2022-23 season in League One.
The club introduced their first new signing this week as 26 year-old midfielder Ben Thompson agreed an initial two-year contract at the Weston Homes Stadium.
Two new goalkeepers are set to be unveiled on Thursday, with Hull City youngster Harvey Cartwright one of those set to be revealed, and another midfielder could be announced in the coming days.
The goalkeepers were due to be paraded on Wednesday, but minor contractual issues held up the deals.
The Hull Daily Mail linked Posh with former Tigers captain Richie Smallwood again this week, although doubts persist about the 31-year-old multiple promotion-winner’s willingness to move away from the north of England.
Ambitious League Two club Bradford City are also reportedly interested in Grant McCann’s former Hull City captain.
And Posh have also been busy fighting off bids for current players they see as key to an instant return to the Championship.
Young midfielder Harrison Burrows has been the subject of a huge bid by a Premier League club, one which could reach £5 million if some optimistic clauses are met.
Jeando Fuchs has been targeted by foreign clubs – including one seven-figure bid - while wide player Joe Ward has been the subject of a rejected bid from a Championship side.
Jonson Clarke-Harris, the Posh top scorer in each of the last two seasons, has also been linked with a move back to the second tier with Sheffield United and Birmingham City.
And there has been the inevitable speculation about teenage centreback Ronnie Edwards, although national newspaper reports suggesting
Posh had turned down a £4 million bid from Premier League Crystal Palace are thought to wide of the mark.
Posh want a £15 million package for their current England Under 19 international.
The 19 year-old is not expected to leave Posh until he’s represented England in the European Under 19 Championships in Slovakia later this month.
