New deputy chief named
Grampian Police will have a new deputy chief constable from this weekend.
Assistant chief constable Colin Menzies will be temporarily promoted to the role following the retirement of deputy chief John Mcnab, who leaves the force this week after a 26-year police career.
Mr Menzies joined Grampian Police in 1982 before transferring to the traffic department in 1987. Throughout the years he has worked his way up within the force after being promoted to sergeant in 1992 with responsibility for road casualty reduction.
In July 2005, he had the force’s strategic lead role in response to the London bombings.

(territorial operations) in March 2008. He is responsible for operational policing and community partnership business areas.
Mr Menzies said: “I am delighted to be offered the opportunity to perform the role and responsibilities of deputy chief constableonatemporary basis following John Mcnab’s retirement.
“This is an exciting time for policing, for the north-east and for Scotland. The transition towards a single force for Scotland presents a number of organisational and operational challenges which we must accept and meet in order to make the most of the opportunities that will also arise from such significant reform.”
