Pink pooches take to catwalk

Dog divas with a penchant for pink are to strut their stuff in a canine costume parade.

Malmaison Hotel in Aberdeen will host a Pink Pooch Parade, organised by Aberdeen Performing­artsanddog welfare charity Dawgs, on Saturday, May 26.

Stars Amy Lennox and Niki Evans from Legally Blonde the Musical will be on hand to oversee the action while theshowiso­ntour at His Majesty’s Theatre.

Pets Bruiser and Rufus, who appear alongside them on stage, will also make an appearance at the Queen’s Road event. Prizes include waggiest tale and best paw shake, as well as Prettiest Pooch and Handsomest Hound, will be up for grabs.

Applicatio­ns to take part in the parade cost £5, donated to Dawgs.

Meanwhile, dogsfrom across the north-east will get a chance to take the spotlight when Dawgs holds a fundraisin­g celebratio­n the following day. The Day in the Country with Dawgs event at Haddo Country Park, near Methlick, will feature fun dog shows, activities for children and adults and their four- legged friends, stalls, a barbecue and even a doggie tea party.

A sponsored walk will take place on the morning of Sunday, May 27, from 10am.

Owners will be invited to put their pooches through their paces in games such as Temptation Alley and Musical Sits in the afternoon from 12.30pm. Proceeds from the day will fund Dawgs’ efforts to find loving new homes for dogs whose owners can no longer take care of them.
