Mann’s offers after release

-

Former Caley Thistle central defender Bobby Mann has been released by Formartine United, but the 38year-old is determined to continue his Highland League career.

Mann, who began his career with Forfar Athletic and also played for Dundee and Peterhead, will play his final game for United at home to Rothes tonight.

Mann said: “I amconsidering a couple of offers from Highland League clubs for next season as well as a couple of clubs f rom around Dundee where I live.

“I will just wait and see what happens. I’m 38 now, but I really enjoy my football and I feel I can still do a job for someone. I definitely still have that hunger and desire to win games.

“Although I never really had any great pace, I feel I can still read the game well and that has certainly helped to extend my football career.”

Mannhasscored 10 goals for Formartine this season, most from free kicks.

Mann added: “I don’t think I ever got to take a free kick at Caley Thistle as my old team-mate, Scotland international Barry Robson, was always first to the ball.

“I’ve scored quite a few for Formartine this season from free kicks, including a double against Fort William at North Lodge Park l ast Wednesday night.

“I honestly don’t know the secret.

“All I try to do is get the ball up and over the wall and get it on target and thankfully it seems to work for me most of the time.

“I don’t think Highland League supporters have seen the last of me yet. It will all become clearer in the next couple of weeks.”
