Albion Boys Club maintained their excellent cup record with victory in the Scottish Youth FA Challenge Trophy final.

The Aberdeen club’s under-16 side beat Tynecastle FC 5-4 on penalties at Airdrie United’s Excelsior Stadium after a 0-0 draw.

The cupfinal appearance maintained the club’s proudrecordandpresident Brian Winton hailed coach Bruce Mcgregor and his team’s display.

He said: “It was a great display by the team and helps keep our remarkable record in the national cup finals going.

“We’ve played in 12 finals in the last 12 years and have won seven of them which is excellent.

“One year we had three teams in finals, but to rack up a dozen final appearances in as many years is fantastic consistency by everyone at the club and of course to Bruce and his players, it’s great to see them come back with the trophy.” that way. There has beenan upsurge in the quality of Scottish players in recent times and that results in them playing in England. As the international manager, I look on that as a good thing.”

However, one Englandbased player who will not be involved in Levein’s plans is Steven Fletcher after the manager revealed at the weekend he had now closed the door on a return to the national fold for the Wolves forward.

Levein said: “I’ve been very consistent with my message. It’s come to the point where I feel the needs of the group are greater than anything else.

“We very much pride ourselves on the Scotland national team and being 100% committed. I would be doing a disservice to the rest of the players if I didn’t
