Shop pops up to raise more cash
A successful pop-up shop which raised more than £2,000 for a social care charity is returning to Aberdeen.
The scheme, which will operate from 346 George Street, hopes to smash last year’s total and amass even more cash for Cornerstone, an organisation which supports adults and children with physical and learning disabilities across Scotland.
The charity plans to use the funds raised from this year’s pop-up store, which will operate from July 25 to July 30, to fund Cornerstone’s Independent Forum group and help them reach their target of a £30,000 minibus.
Using the new vehicle, the organisation will be able to offer access to everyday activities in Aberdeen to the disabled people it assists; activities which are often taken for granted by most of the population.
Cornerstone service manager Malcolm Gray said: “We are looking forward to running our popular pop-up shop for the second year in Aberdeen.
“This now annual event is a fantastic way for us to raise funds and awareness of our hugely important IF group.
“Everyone will also be wearing T-shirts with our IF logo and slogan – Yes We Can – which also helps those we support feel like they are part of the team.”
“The people we support will be doing their bit by volunteering in the shop, so, as well as being a great fundraising opportunity, this is a really excellent way for them to develop valuable skills and experience.”
