Before the reign comes the rainforest for royal couple

Royals: William and Kate to take children after Trudeau’s invitation

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s tour of Canada will take them to the Great Bear Rainforest and the remote archipelago of Haida Gwaii, Kensington Palace announced.

William and Kate are heading to the country for a week-long official trip in September and are expected to be joined by their children Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

The royal visit – which will see the duke and duchess travel to Canada’s British Columbia province and Yukon territory – will begin in Victoria, the capital of British Columbia, on Vancouver Island on September 24.

William and Kate will also travel to Vancouver itself, and then the island village of Bella Bella – the Heiltsuk Indian Reserve – and the Great Bear Rainforest, a wilderness which stretches for more than 250 miles along the Pacific coast of British Columbia and is known as the Amazon of the North.

The duke and duchess are to visit Kelowna in British Columbia, before moving to Whitehorse and Carcross in Yukon, northwest Canada. Yukon became famous for the Klondike Gold Rush in the 1890s when some 100,000 people flocked to the territory trying to find gold.

William and Kate will also journey to Haida Gwaii – a remote archipelago formerly known as the Queen Charlotte Islands – home of the Haida First Nations.

The tour will end in Victoria, which was named after William’s great-greatgreat-great-grandmother Queen Victoria, on October 1.

William and Kate made their first official visit to the country together as newlyweds in 2011, but this time are widely anticipated to have their young family – George, three, and 15month-old Charlotte – in tow.

The prince and princess stayed behind in the UK with their nanny when the Duke and Duchess visited India and Bhutan earlier this year.

It would be Charlotte’s first official royal tour, but George travelled to Australia and New Zealand with his parents in 2014 when he was nine months old.

Canada’s prime minister Justin Trudeau invited the whole family to visit in July.

The country’s Globe And Mail described the trip as a “match made in paparazzi heaven, featuring Prince William, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and their equally telegenic families”.

Mr Trudeau and his wife, Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, have three children – eightyear-old Xavier, seven-yearold Ella-Grace and twoyear-old Hadrien.
