Gauld’s victory at 100th parkrun

Ron Gauld led home a record field of 212 participan­ts who celebrated the 100th Aberdeen Hazlehead parkrun 5km.

The Stonehaven Running Club member posted a time of 17min 18sec to take top spot for the fourth week in a row and it was the seventh time he has been first from eight appearance­s in the run.

Robert Leigh was second in 18:28, while Gauld’s clubmate Michael barker took third spot in 18:46.

Vivienne Bruce (Metro Aberdeen) was just three seconds outside her best time for the woodland trail when leading home the women’s field by finishing 15th overall in 21:33.

Claire Gauld was second in her best time of 23:01 while Hannah Morrison (Metro Aberdeen) finished third in 23:11.

Teenager Jack Gillespie (Aberdeen AAC) set a personal best time of 17:08 to lead the way home in the Aberdeen parkrun 5km, finishing 29sec ahead of Dyce half marathon champion Mark McCluskie, who also recorded his fastest time for the beach promenade course.

Naomi Lang (Aberdeen AAC) also took advantage of the perfect running conditions to clock her quickest time (18:14) when finishing third overall and first woman from a field of 245. Jo Anselin was second in 18:38 and Emma Barr was third in 20:06, both personal best times.

Donnie Macdonald (Inverness Harriers) finished well ahead of a field of 145 runners in the Inverness parkrun 5km, clocking 16:32, while Blair Mackay (East Sutherland) was second in 17:48 and Ross Legge third in 18:16.

Youngster Zoe Sharpe finished one second ahead of Inverness clubmate Gillian Grant in the women’s division, setting her fastest time of 21:56 for the Bught course. Another Inverness Harrier, Jenny Blackwood, was third in 22:32.
