Victim of raid feared for kids

-

A woman has described how she feared two children would die – when an armed robber stormed her home.

Lisa Ann Cetiner, 48, wept as she recalled the night a masked man barged into her house in Drumnadrochit. She was giving evidence yesterday, on day two of Ali Akguc’s trial at the High Court in Aberdeen.

Prosecutors allege the 36-year-old covered his face before he forced his way into her house at Coiltie Crescent, Kilmore, with a gun.

It is alleged he then assaulted Mrs Cetiner and two children by forcing them to sit on the floor, before making off with £3,165. Akguc, of Beale Close, Enfield, London, denies the charges.

Yesterday Mrs Cetiner said she had been watching TV on December 6 when there was a knock at the door shortly before 10pm.

“His face was covered with a grey scarf or polo neck”

As she tried to open it, a man poked what she thought was a gun through the gap and pushed in.

The court heard the man, whose face was covered with a grey scarf or polo neck, pointed the weapon at her and the children.

She said he ordered the children to sit on the floor and demanded she went to get cash.

She told the court that although she could not see his face fully, she recognised him as a man who had worked for her husband in his Fort Augustus restaurant, The Moorings. The court heard that on the Thursday before the incident, Mrs Cetiner had gone to the restaurant to pick up the takings as her husband was away. She said she took the money home and hid it. The court heard the man took the money and ran.

The trial before Lord Burns continues.
