Fisher reels in tartan sceptics
“I’ve put a lot into making a good impact when I come on and I chase down everything. Sometimes I think I should conserve my energy here and there but I just go for it. I’ve found when I do that, it creates chances for me and the team, so I’ll keep doing it.
“It’s something I have stumbled on and I want to continue.”
Every match at the moment is something of a step into the unknown for Fisher, including today’s home match against Kilmarnock. He added: “My knowledge of the league isn’t as strong as some of the others. This would be the first time I will have played Kilmarnock properly. I was involved against them last year but it was really snowy that day, so it wasn’t like a usual game. We can expect a tough game, as every match is. “We will focus on what we can do and stick to out game plan and hope that comes out on top.” Kilmarnock midfielder Jordan Jones is hoping the hard yards reap more rewards.
Jones earned praise from manager Lee Clark after match analysis showed he ran further than any of his team-mates during his team’s 1-0 victory against St Johnstone last weekend.
The 21-year-old is taking Clark’s instructions on board and believes more graft can help Killie push up the Premiership table with victory in Inverness today.
Jones said: “The manager is always on about how hard we’ve got to work off the ball. He has always said to me he is never going to question what I can do on the ball, I have just got to work hard off it.
“I ran further than anyone on Saturday, so I’ve got to run even further against Inverness.
“Other than Celtic, Aberdeen, Rangers and Hearts, Premiership games are about who wants it more, who’ll run the furthest and work the hardest.
“So, hopefully, we can work as hard or more than Inverness and beat them.”
Killie could move into the top six this weekend, which would be a tonic to a side tipped for the drop after a much-changed and young squad was knocked out of the Betfred Cup group stages.
