STIRLING – Caledonian Marts Ltd sold 150 Cattle comprising 92 prime bullocks, heifers and young bulls, 58 cast cows and bulls and four dairy bull calves. Prime bullocks averaged 214p a kg; prime heifers 217p; beef bulls 203p; B&W bulls 120p; beef cows 126p; dairy cows 101p. Bullocks sold to 240p a kg twice from Todhall, Cupar, and Learielaw, Broxburn, to Hastie, butchers, Markinch, and T. Johnston, butchers, Falkirk. Top gross was £1,555 from Greencraig, Falkirk. Heifers sold to 255p a kg from Knockhouse, Dunfermlin­e, to D. Campbell and Son, butchers, Callander, and to £1,623 from Brockwoodl­ees, Canonbie. Bulls sold to 210p a kg and £1,512 from Mains of Throsk, Stirling, to J. F. Findlay, wholesaler, Wishaw. Beef cows sold to 157p a kg and £1,450 from Mains of Throsk, Stirling. Dairy cows sold to 118p a kg and £990 from Carskerdo, Cupar. A good show of black and white bull calves from Plean, Stirling, averaged £63.75.

THAINSTONE – Prime bullocks under 30 months (24) averaged 195.1p (+3.8p) and sold to 230p a kg for a 615kg BB from Waterside of Forbes, Alford, to W. and J. Cameron, Keith, and £1,434.40 for a 815kg Char from Aldie Farm, Cruden Bay, to Backmuir Livestock, Keith. Prime heifers (23) averaged 205.7p (+5.4p) and sold to 235p a kg for a 560kg Lim from Waterside of Forbes, to Bruce of the Broch, and £1,395.20 for a 640kg Lim from Cairncoull­ie, Strathdon, to W. and J.
