Author to be ‘Gray’s Guest’
A renowned illustrator and author will deliver a talk at Gray’s School of Art today.
Nick Sharratt will give a lecture at 1pm as part of the Guest at Gray’s series.
The project brings well-known artists and designers to the school to share their experiences and knowledge with pupils and staff and the general public.
Mr Sharratt has illustrated around 260 books including Jacqueline Wilson’s Hetty Feather novels and The Story of Tracy Beaker.
He has also author-illustrated 50 books and is excited about his lecture in the Granite City.
He said: “I’m looking forward greatly to coming to Gray’s.
“It’s over 30 years since I left art school and although I do a great deal of school visits and book-related events, it’s rare I get the chance to meet and talk with art students, so this will be a wonderful opportunity.
“I hope I’ll be able to provide a useful insight into the world of a working illustrator, and aim to inspire and encourage by showing my own career journey from school days and college to the present day.”
Marie Simpson, lecturer at Gray’s, added: “Nick is a hugely talented author and artist and his work is tremendously popular across the world with the books he has worked on translated into many different languages.
“It is a real honour to have Nick with us and we are all really looking forward to hearing about his career and finding out about the opportunities which his chosen path has given him.”
