World leaders show support
Donald Trump has offered the “full co-operation and support” of the United States in responding to the Westminster terror attack.
The White House said the US president offered his condolences to Theresa May in a phone call.
Mr Trump had earlier described the apparent terror attack as “big news” as world leaders were shocked by the incident.
A White House spokesman said: “President Donald J. Trump spoke today with Prime Minister Theresa May of the United Kingdom to offer his condolences on today’s terror attack in London and his praise for the effective response of security forces and first responders.
“He pledged the full cooperation

and support of the United States government in responding to the attack and bringing those responsible to justice.”
European leaders – some of whom had earlier in the day taken part in commemorations to mark the first anniversary of terror attacks in Brussels – were swift to offer their support to the UK.
Belgian prime minister Charles Michel said: “Our condolences are with those who mourn and all who are affected in #London. Belgium stands with UK in fight against terror.”
Francois Hollande, president of France – which has been struck in recent years by terror attacks in Paris and Nice – said: “I have sent my condolences to Theresa May after the attack which has plunged the United Kingdom into mourning today.”
