Event: Award-winning food and drink festival ends with a bang at party

The Red Hot Chilli Pipers will take centre stage at a new after-show function at this year’s Taste of Grampian.

The award-winning food and drink festival is being extended this year – on June 3 – to include an evening event, which will be called the Mart Fest.

That name draws on the popularity of the BBC TV series The Mart, which was filmed at Taste of Grampian venue, the Thainstone Centre in Inverurie.

“We are delighted to introduce the Mart Fest,” said Taste of Grampian event manager, Carol Fowler, from Prime Event Management.

“This brings a new dimension to the food festival, extending it into the evening and allowing us to showcase not only local breweries, craft sprits and cider makers, but a host of local singer-songwriters.”

She said visitors would have the option of visiting various indoor venues, including a piano bar and acoustic lounge, or sitting outside in the beer garden.

“We will have a variety of street entertainers for guests to enjoy while they tuck into all the local street food offerings,” added Ms Fowler.

Taste of Grampian chairman, John Gregor, said: “Every year, we have successfully introduced a new element to Taste of Grampian and believe this is one of the main reasons for its continual growth.

“This year is no different and we are delighted to be extending the festival by introducing our new Mart Fest – a fusion of local brewers, craft spirit makers, trendy local street food pop-ups and a variety of musicians, bands and street entertainers. It’s going to be an evening not to be missed."

The Mart Fest takes place immediately after Taste of Grampian from 5pm to 11pm.

Entry is free for those who already have an entry ticket for Taste and Grampian, but otherwise it costs £10.

Entry to the main event, which will also feature the popular Press and Journal/Evening Express Motor Show, is £5 for adults and free for children under 16.
