Seven of best as Pentland rush in

Pentland United cruised into the last eight of the Highland Amateur Cup with a 7-1 victory against third-round opponents Lairg Rovers at Ferrycroft Park.

Former Wick Academy attacker Lucasz Geruzel and Sean Campbell both scored two for the seventime winners, while Lee Sutherland, Andrew Hardwick and James Murray got the rest.

Craig Ross netted Rovers’ consolatio­n.

Maryburgh booked their place in the quarter-finals after they won a penalty shootout against Brora Wanderers at School Park.

The tie ended 2-2 after Maryburgh’s Fraser Dingwall levelled in the fourth minute of added time.

Scott Miller headed Wanderers in front in the 21st minute but Burgh’s Russell MacIntyre scored five minutes later.

Liam McLeod restored Rovers’ lead when he scored from a wind-assisted corner in the 76th minute, but Dingwall’s late equaliser forced extra-time and then penalties which Maryburgh won.

Avoch also booked their place in the last eight with a 2-1 victory against ANM Ace at Coronation Park.

All the goals came in the opening half an hour with Shaun Kerr and Rhys Shewan scoring for Avoch before Allan Fraser pulled one back for Ace.

Culbokie defeated Tomatin 2-1 at Bught Park thanks to a Chris Kelly opener and a John MacKay penalty.

Mattie Francis scored for Tomatin from the penalty spot.

An Andrew MacLean double helped IRN Security to a 3-0 win against Hill Rovers.

Paul MacDonald was also on target for IRN.

Staxigoe United edged out Iochdar Saints 2-1 at Lochaber High School.

Martin Banks and Gordon MacNab were on target for Staxigoe, while Joseph MacInnes netted for Saints, who finished the tie with 10 men after Ally Downie was sent off.
