Winner Reilly ticks off Aberdeen on globetrott­ing to-do list

Globetrott­ing runner Cathal Reilly led home a field of 253 in the Aberdeen parkrun 5km, clocking a time of 17min 19sec to finish 32sec ahead of Allan Christie with youngster Calvin Ramsay a further 12sec behind in third position.

Reilly, who was making his first appearance in the Aberdeen event, has previously taken part in parkruns in New Zealand, Russia and Ireland. Another visitor, Welsh teenager Bethan Dowsett (Deeside AAC) was first woman in 19:21 while veteran Carolyn Milne (Garioch Road Runners) finished second in 20:17 with Jill Bonthron (Metro Aberdeen) third in 20:36.

Ron Gauld (Stonehaven Running Club) topped the finishers list at the Aberdeen Hazlehead parkrun 5km when recording 18:01 while Jack Gomersall (Grampian Orienteers) took second position in a personal best 19:12, 6sec ahead of Garry Wood.

Jenny Stanning (Rebel PT) led home the women’s field in 20:57 with Ann Gallon (Stonehaven Running Club) second in 21:47, 5sec clear of Jo Money.

John Stoddart was first to finish the Inverness parkrun 5km when making his debut in the Highland capital. He recorded 17:55 while Duncan Gillespie was second in 19:04 and an unregister­ed runner finished third.

Rhona Grant (Highland Hill Runners) took her tally of first place positions in the women’s series of runs up to 35 when clocking 19:59. Gillian Grant was second in 22:22 and Gillian Clark took third spot in 23:34.

Steven Ellis led the way in the Elgin parkrun 5km in 19:19 with Douglas Miller second in 19:34 and Andrew Campbell (Moravian Orienteers) third in 19:39.

Susan Rae (Moray Road Runners), who was sixth overall from a field of 120, was first woman in 20:44. Anna MacArthur (Triathlon Inverness) was runner-up in 21:41 and youngster Hannah Stephen (Moray Road Runners) was third in 25:10.

Keith McIntyre was first in the Ellon parkrun 5km in 17:15 with Martin Burns (Newburgh Dunes) second in 18:06 while an unregister­ed runner was third.

Ruth Pirie (Garioch Road Runners) set a personal best 21:11 when taking top spot in the women’s division of the run in which Ali Bell was second in 21:25 and Ellen Astley (Ellon AAC) finished third in 22:24.
