MAYNARD SCORES AS YOUNG DONS WIN

Aberdeen forward Nicky Maynard, above, was on target for the Dons’ under-20 side in yesterday’s SPFL Development League 2-0 victory against Kilmarnock.

Connor McLennan put the Dons in front at Brechin’s Glebe Park with the opener after 41 minutes, with Maynard doubling the advantage four minutes into the second half.

Mark Reynolds and Dominic Ball were also in action for the young Dons.

• Moussa Dembele staked his claim for a starting spot against Ross County this weekend with a hat-trick on international duty.

The striker, who has struggled with injury this season, scored three times in 11 minutes as France under21s came from behind to beat their Slovenian counterparts 3-1.
