Aluminium is industry of future

William Gumbrell, Derbyhall Avenue, Fraserburgh SIR, – The UK was the world leader in supply of aluminium, started in the Highlands at Foyers, Loch Ness. Today the UK imports 90% of aluminium from the EU.

The steady fluctuating price of aluminium has increased from around $1,600 in 2016 to today’s price sitting around a steady $2,100 – 2016-17 is a very good time to be rebuilding the aluminium industry in the UK.

UK production of primary and secondary aluminium (secondary the circular economy) is a huge opportunity for the UK.

For the Highlands of Scotland the future in expanding this industry across the UK will see the country rebuild its once proud and strong aluminium industry.
