Locos hot on silver streak
Harlaw roll: Cooper’ s men can catch leaders Cove by making it 10 unbeaten
Inverurie Locos manager Neil Cooper hopes his side can stretch its unbeaten league run to 10 matches with a victory against Keith at Kynoch Park today.
A win would put Locos level on points with leaders Cove, although they will have played four games more.
Cooper said: “There is a great spirit in the dressing room. We are fortunate as our three strikers – Neil Gauld, Andy Hunter and Joe McCabe – have been scoring goals.
“We also have great ammunition in the middle with Neil McLean, Stuart Duff and Jordan Leyden, as well as Colin Charlesworth, while goalkeeper Andy Reid has been unbelievable.
“He saved two penalty kicks against Formartine last week but he has a good back four in front of him so every department in the team is maintaining a high standard.”
Locos only doubt is top scorer Gauld, who has a groin injury.
Keith manager Ewan Robb said: “Both my central defenders are missing. Adam Clark is in Rome for his birthday while Ryan Robertson is injured.”
• Deveronvale will look to make it six wins in a row
“High standards being maintained in every team department”
when Nairn County visit today.
Nairn manager Ronnie Sharp said: “Stevie Dolan is doing a good job at Vale. He got rid of some of their most experienced players and brought in younger boys and they seem to be doing really well.”
Lossiemouth, meanwhile, will hope to bounce back from a 7-0 thrashing at Brora Rangers when they take on Clach at Grant Park.
Clach manager Iain Polworth said: “Knowing Iain MacRae, he will have them fired up. He was that way as a player.”
Lossie will miss striker James McLaren, defender Ross Duncan and full back Ally Bellingham.
Clach are without defender Paul Smith but strikers Stuart Leslie and Dan MacLennan are added.
