AC/DC guitarist Malcolm Young has been hailed by his band as a “visionary” after his death at the age of 64.
In 2014 it was announced that the Scottish- born founding member had dementia and would not be playing with the rock band any more.
A statement on the band’s website said: “Malcolm, along with his brother Angus, was the founder and creator of AC/DC.
“With enormous dedication and commitment he was the driving force behind the band.
“As a guitarist, songwriter and visionary he was a perfectionist and a unique man.
“He always stuck to his guns and did and said exactly what he wanted.”
Malcolm Young was born in Glasgow in 1953 and with Angus the family emi- grated to Australia in 1963. While Malcolm Young was the band’s musical driving force, he left showmanship to his younger brother, who was famous for dressing in schoolboy’s uniform and goose-stepping around the stage.
Based in Australia, AC/DC went on to achieve global fame with a series

of massive albums in the second half of the 1970s.
Malcolm Young was replaced by nephew Stevie for the band’s last tour promoting 2014 album Rock Or Bust.
In a further statement the band said: “Malcolm passed away peacefully with his family by his bedside.”
