Train service issues not new

-

SIR, – Having travelled on the 0515 train from Oban to Glasgow last week I agree with Francis MacLeod, Caol (Letters, November 10). The train was bitterly cold all the way from Oban to Glasgow Queen Street – it was dirty and there was no trolley service. Having spoken to many other passengers who have used this train this is not a new problem and I have voiced my concerns to ScotRail, my local MP and my local councillor.

impressive sculpture, but why is it so hard to find?

Did the sculptor specify that it should be so high that it cannot be viewed comfortably? If not, who decided to place it so awkwardly? Should such a stunning sculpture not be put where it can be easily seen and enjoyed?

weapons-grade highly enriched uranium from Wick Airport to RAF Lossiemouth and on to the US and this incident is a scenario where the civilian aircraft could have been a USAF aircraft carrying nuclear materials.

There was such a transport in June and HANT highlighted that Wick Airport does not have the level of radar cover of larger airports and therefore aircraft in the vicinity of Wick are often not aware of other aircraft in the vicinity. The Scottish Government needs to add this issue to its list of issues to be raised with the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and DSRL (Dounreay Site Restoration Ltd) - the company responsible for all activity at Dounreay. Meanwhile HANT calls for a halt to all nuclear transports - they are hugely expensive, unnecessary and pose huge risks to the public. Tor Justad, chairperson of HANT,
