ven MacDonald praised his side’s industry after netting six times in the second half.

He said: “We were flooding them with wave after wave of attacks and the enthusiasm and desire to keep going and score more was really pleasing.

“We have shown already this season that we have a lot of goalscorers in our team. Dale Gillespie is playing very well at the moment, even though he has a knee injury.

“He scored one and three other shots flew just past the post.

“When he is on his game, his vision and va- riety of passes makes him great to watch.”

Fort co-manager Paul Maclennan accepted his side were well beaten and said: “Apart from two wonder strikes, I thought our shape in the first half was pretty good.

“However, in the second half the penalty for the fourth goal killed us. The heads went down and the floodgates opened.

“Scott Davidson was man of the match for a well-taken hat-trick but I thought Daniel Moore was excellent. His deliveries into the box were superb and we just couldn’t get close to him.”

The home side opened the scoring in the sixth minute through Moore but John Treasurer levelled for Fort seven minutes later. Davidson put Rothes in front with a 30-yard drive before Gillespie netted five minutes before the break to give Rothes a 3-1 lead at the break.

Davidson added another from the penalty spot four minutee after the restart and completed his hat-trick two minutes later with a powerful header. Goals from Dale Wood, Jaime Wilson and substitutes James Mackay and Craig Cormack completed the rout.
