Capital side out to have agoat Leinster

-

Duncan Hodge maintains Edinburgh will not hold back in their Pro14 trip to Leinster tomorrow.

Edinburgh got off the mark for the season last weekend with a 17-10 win against Connacht and the capital club heads to Ireland knowing a win will close the gap on the second-placed side in Conference B.

The Edinburgh attack coach said: “It’s been good stuff in all of the three games, we’re just gutted we didn’t win one of the two. The Ulster game was a big blow – we did enough to win it.

“The week before against Ospreys was similar. It was good to get the win last week but again, we left a few bits out there.

“There’s a bit of frustration kicking about but that’s not a bad thing. We’ve got some tough games coming up and the focus has been on us getting better.

“We’ve got a big test against the double champions and it’s a good place to play.

“They’re quite a pragmatic team – they keep the ball and grind you down. But we went over last year and played some good rugby and we should have got something out of the game. We can’t play too conservative – we’ve got to go over there and have a go.”

Glasgow Warriors winger DTH van der Merwe hopes his side can build on their 52-24 win against Toyota Cheetahs when they face Southern Kings tomorrow on their mini tour of South Africa.

He said: “We worried too much about the altitude last time.

“We spoke about it all week but it is just something we need to get on with.

“When we got settled into our gameplan, everything started to click. Hopefully we can get another win.”
