Mackay ready to create more Cattachs cup memories

-

Brora Rangers player-manager Steven Mackay would love to set up another memorable Scottish Cup run by beating Turriff United today.

The Cattachs defeated Turriff 5-0 in the league earlier this month but Mackay says there is no room for complacency.

He said: “We had an unbelievable Scottish Cup run last season, reaching the last 16 before losing at Kilmarnock.

“We are taking nothing for granted as the moment you do football has the ability to throw up an upset.”

Turriff ’s only absentee is centre-back Cammy Bowden following a knee operation.

Forres Mechanics manager Charlie Rowley has several injury concerns for his side’s first-round tie against Civil Service Strollers at Mosset Park.

He said: “We have a few injury doubts, including striker Stuart Soane with a hamstring injury, defender Graham Fraser with a head gash and goalkeeper Stuart Knight, who has a groin strain.”

Moray Taylor could feature for Lossiemouth at Gala Fairydean after joining on loan from Elgin City, while defender Aaron Hamilton returns.

Buckie Thistle hope winger Scott Adams and defenders Craig Dorratt and Shaun Carrol pass pre-match fitnesstests ahead of their trip to Edusport Academy.

Fort William manager Kris Anderson is relishing his side’s test against Linlithgow Rose.

He said: “We have absolutely nothing to lose. It’s a big Scottish Cup day out and an occasion we’re really going to enjoy.”

Nairn County entertain 2016 Scottish Junior Cup winners Beith at Station Park.

County manager Ronnie Sharp said: “It will be a tough test. We are without centrehalf Fraser Dingwall, who is on holiday, while midfielder Adam Naismith is a doubt with an ankle injury.”

Strathspey Thistle are looking for their first Scottish Cup win when they welcome Coldstream to Seafield Park. Jags manager Gordon Nicolson said: “We have found a good bit of form so hopefully we can give the fans something to shout about.”

Keith travel to face the University of Stirling tomorrow. Scott Begg, James Brownie and Bradley Manson return for the Maroons.
