Forrest: Hoops can hit great heights again

-

James Forrest wants Celtic to get back to winning ways in the Premiership following their dramatic last-gasp Europa League victory over Rosenborg.

The Hoops drew a blank at St Mirren last week, a result which ultimately left them five points behind leaders Hearts after five games of the season.

The Group B opener against Norwegian outfit Rosenborg on Thursday was a struggle for the Scottish champions, but an 87th-minute winner from substitute Leigh Griffiths gave Celtic three crucial points.

Now 27-year-old Scotland winger Forrest, who said talks about a new contract at Parkhead were “ongoing”, is looking for another win at Kilmarnock on Sunday.

He said: “Obviously it was disappointing last week but we have had disappointing results before and always come back.

“We have a real good squad and that is what we are looking to do.

“We know we have a lot of different competitions coming up and we are going use our squad.

“We need everyone raring to go when they play. We want to keep ourselves in all competitions and we need to start again on Sunday.”

Olivier Ntcham is suspended for Celtic’s league clash with Kilmarnock at Rugby Park tomorrow.

The French midfielder was sent off after picking up two yellow cards in last Friday night’s goalless draw against St Mirren in Paisley.

Kilmarnock boss Steve Clarke has defensive worries, Stuart Findlay has not trained all week due to a knock, Scott Boyd is suffering from a virus and will be assessed while Greg Taylor is struggling with a knock.

Premiership leaders Hearts have no fresh injury problems ahead of the visit of Livingston.

Defender Aaron Hughes remains a doubt with a calf problem while new signing Sean Clare is likely to need a bit of time to get up to speed after arriving at the club earlier in the week.

Livingston will assess Ryan Hardie following the striker’s comeback from a foot injury, as they look to extend Gary Holt’s 100 per cent start as manager.

Loan signing Bobby Burns drops out of the squad for the game against his parent club.
