Robb in a great position after two rounds

North-east golfer Chris Robb is well-placed heading into the final two rounds of the Euram Open in Austria.

The 29-year-old, who is attached to Meldrum House, followed up an opening 68 with a sixunder 64 at Golf Club Adamstal.

Robb, who struck the first tee shot at last week’s season-restarting Austrian Open, birdied the first three holes and made four further gains on the back nine to move to eight under par.

“I came back in 30, but I got off to a really hot start,” said Robb.

“I birdied the first three holes and then burned the edge on the next two.

“It was an ideal start. The only dropped shot was the ninth and that

“Tried to play a little bit more conservatively than last week”

was horrendous. I had 90 yards from the fairway and hit it in the bunker – that was an anomaly.

“The rest of the game was really solid, I tried to play a little more conservatively than I did last week.”

Robb, who grew up in Banchory, is hoping to make it two wins in a row for Scottish golfers on the European Tour following Marc Warren’s success last weekend.

He added: “There seems to be a lot of Scottish guys playing well. It certainly pushes you on a little bit, especially guys you play with back home and you compete with them when you’re knocking it about but then all of a sudden a tournament is a little different.

“It’s great to see the Scottish flag up there and it seems to have been up there a lot over the last few years.”

Dutchman Joost Luiten leads by two after rounds of 65 and 63 took him to 12 under par.
