SKINNY FITS

Denim is back with a bang, and skinny jeans could be the way to go

-

Are you filled with dread at the thought of swapping loungewear for jeans? If you’re worried about a snug waistband, you’re not alone.

As the nation prepares to venture further afield, jeans are unfortunately back in fashion.

It’s not uncommon for jeans shopping to be a bad experience, and finding the perfect pair can take months or even years.

If you’ve ever tried on seven pairs in a tiny changing cubicle, getting hotter and sweatier as you go through the pile, you’ll know the frustration which comes with finding good fitting jeans.

Firstly, you are not the problem. Every single body is different, and there is no one pair of jeans which will suit all.

A size 12 in one shop may be a size eight in another, such is the variation in sizes with different retailers.

The skinny jean however, could be the way forward. But before you back away in horror, we’re not talking about skin tight drainpipes.

The bootcut can be difficult to style, and high-waisted jeans often need unbuttoned by midday.

The skinny is a happy compromise, and there are lots of variations.

Blue, black or bright pink, it doesn’t matter.

Choose a colour which you feel confident in.

Skinny jeans can even be worn in the office if they are black and unripped, teamed with loafers and a floaty blouse.

Add heels for a night out, and even a blazer for some added glam.

Sizing up isn’t always the answer, but neither is choosing a pair which you can’t sit down in.

Consider the petite range for the perfect length, or opt for a slim style.

This is one step down from skinny, but will still offer a tapered leg.

Once you’ve found the perfect pair, take a note of the shape for the future.

Skinny jeans won’t be for everyone, but can be a versatile item for your wardrobe.
