Charity’s glamour ball will return in autumn

-

Cancer care charity Maggie’s Aberdeen is celebrating 11 years of supporting north-east people with the return of its glamorous fundraising Orange Ball this autumn.

The Maggie’s team is hopeful of surpassing the £116,000 raised last year as the event is again held at the Chester Hotel in the Granite City on September 7

The gala event will feature Alex Fleming as host for the evening, along with special guests Totico providing the music to help guests dance the night away.

The dress code will be “a touch of orange”.

In just over a decade since the Maggie’s Aberdeen Centre opened, it has hosted more than 80,000 visits from local people.

As well as practical and emotional support, the charity has helped to secure £9 million in financial gains for visitors through its benefits advice service.

Maggie’s Aberdeen Centre head Vera Schroeter said: “I am proud of the support we as a team are able to give people with cancer and those who love them, and we are all looking forward to another successful event this autumn.

“Since opening our doors in 2013 we have been able to support tens of thousands of people, many of whom get involved with also supporting Maggie’s,” added Ms Schroeter.

“We could not do this without the help of our wonderful supporters and volunteers who give up their time to raise funds and volunteer.”
