Let’s hope we end a long away-day curse

- FAN VIEW PETER MACKAY

The curse of winning the week before once again came back to ruin a scorching day in Dingwall, as Motherwell breezed by the Staggies with little effort.

They played well, and were ruthless in front of goal, but by no means was that game meant to be a 5-1 battering.

The majority of Ross County fans were only just beginning to get the 5-0 loss which ended Derek Adams’ reign out of their head.

After being so defensively strong against Hibernian, it is even more baffling how so many defensive errors were made in this match. However, we have seen these stark week- to-week differences from this County side all through the season.

The result is bad – but results elsewhere have led to one huge game next up. If we win on Wednesday night against St Johnstone we are safe.

On countless occasions this season after winning big or showing a strong performance, our levels seem to drop drastically, leaving us unable to build any form, consistency, or momentum. Heading into Wednesday’s match after such a denting loss is a cause for concern.

The positive thing is it’s just one win needed, and Don Cowie has already proven with his classy calmness he can dig this team out and make them perform when we least expect it.

The main cause for concern is that the match where we need three points to stay in the league is away from home.

We have only been victorious away from home in one match this season, and that was all the way back in September.
