Campbell ups ante

Former Olympic champion Luke Campbell is to fight Derry Mathews at Liverpool’s Echo Arena on October 15.

Englishman Campbell will fight for the third time since his first professional defeat, to Frenchman Yvan Mendy, against 32-year-old Mathews, who last fought WBO lightweight champion Terry Flanagan in March. Their matchup, on the undercard of Tony Bellew’s WBC cruiserweight title defence against BJ Flores, represents the most dangerous of Campbell’s career to date.
