Brown: Hoops must show they can live with best
Captain Scott Brown wants Celtic to demonstrate their Champions League credentials when they host Manchester City tonight.
Brendan Rodgers’ side was hammered 7-0 in their Group C opener against Barcelona in the Nou Camp earlier in the month and now come up against highflying City who have won their first 10 games of the season under new manager Pep Guardiola.
German side Borussia Munchengladbach is also in the section and Brown is determined the Scottish champions will not be propping up the group.
The Parkhead midfielder said: “We’ve got to get Barcelona out of our mind early. This is where this club deserves to be and we need to show we’re good enough to be in the competition and not just going to be in last place.
“We play against the best players in the world in the Champions League and that’s why we want to be in it.
“We need to show how good we are individually and as a team.
“If we can prove a point it will be good for us.
“We’ll try to frustrate them more than anything. We’ve done that to teams here before and it’s more belief than anything.
“We need to believe in our ability and show we can play under pressure.”
