First for Ferrari

-

Ferrari has pulled the covers off its new GTC4Lusso T, the first four-seater the company has made that is powered by a turbocharged V8.

Due to make its official public debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show in October, Ferrari says the new car ushers in a new GT concept designed to offer owners a car that is “sporty and versatile, as well as perfect for driving on a daily basis”.

The GTC4Lusso T is powered by a 3.9-litre turbocharged V8, which is the latest version to come out of the family of engines that was nominated for the 2016 International Engine of the Year title.

In this guise, the engine produces 593bhp and 560lb/ft of torque, which powers the car’s rear wheels. The dash from 062mph is dealt with in 3.5 seconds, while Ferrari says the GTC4Lusso T’s top speed will be in excess of 199mph.

The GTC4Lusso T’s dynamic control systems have been adjusted to improve responsiveness. Of particular prominence is the 4WS (rear-wheel-steering) system, which is integrated with Side Slip Control (SSC3) to allow for even faster response to steering inputs when entering and exiting corners.

Looks-wise, the GTC4Lusso T is much the same as its V12-powered sibling. Inside, the GTC4Lusso T features Ferrari’s Dual Cockpit architecture, which is designed to improve the shared driving experience for both driver and passenger.

Buyers will also be treated to the latest version of Ferrari’s infotainment system, which includes a 10.25-inch HD touchscreen.

Prices for the GTC4Lusso T are yet to be announced, although they will likely be significantly less than the V12 version’s £230,430 starting figure.
