BMW orders up a future classic

-

The RnineT celebrated 90 years of BMW’s bike production and it continues to tap into the current fashion for Caf racers, urban nakeds and track-inspired custom bikes. It is a versatile motorbike that is equally as proficient on the racetrack as it is the tarmac of our Broads and city highways. The 1,170cc flat-twin engine provides flexible, punchy power that, alongside the bike’s excellent comfort and on-road ability, places this machine in the higher echelons of the current motorcycle market. It also comes with the added bonus of superb German reliability. What is more, since the bike’s launch, demand has been incredible.

There is a price however to be paid for all the quality and engineering that goes into a BMW RnineT and that price is from £11,900. Although a more expensive prospect than some class-competitors, you can rest assured you are getting a solidly built and accomplished all-round motorbike for your money.

The chassis on the RnineT is just simply superb. Its bespoke tubular frame supports upside down front forks borrowed from the S1000RR and a rear swing arm from the R1200R. The result is that the RnineT can be pointed and steered with confidence both on road and track. Its suspension appears to cope effortlessly with smooth motorway surfaces, bumpy ‘B’ roads as well as long sweeping track bends. The RnineT rider remains in total control whilst being oblivious to all the quality engineering performing effortlessly around him or her. It is just an amazing bike to ride.

The flat twin cylinder engine revs easily with a reassuring burble in its midrange, making this an exciting bike to ride. The seating position is ideal giving a low centre of gravity, allowing the rider both agility and confidence when negotiating tricky manoeuvres. The ABS brakes assist in bringing the RnineT to a stop with ease and the basic onboard trip computer keeps you informed of what you need to know. Once you’ve ridden this bike you can quickly understand why it is in such high demand.

The BMW RnineT is just so right in all respects. It is a model that exudes class and can flawlessly transform from an agile track bike into an exciting and enjoyable all-road machine in a blink of an eye. The engine is just superb giving the rider an involving and comfortable ride. You would be hard-pressed to find a better two-wheeler for a B-road blast.

At £11,900 the RnineT represents a substantial investment but if you’re looking for the ultimate in Caf Racers or want to customise your bike to your own tastes then the RnineT has it all. Another important factor to consider is the demand for this machine is such that future residual values will continue to remain very high. Don’t delay, get your order in now.
